SnapStream AI Policy

At SnapStream, we use artificial intelligence to make working with video content easier and faster for you. We are committed to using AI in ways that benefit you while protecting your privacy and maintaining your trust.

Who are SnapStream’s Large Language Model Providers?

SnapStream currently uses large language models (LLMs) provided by Anthropic and OpenAI. We regularly evaluate LLM providers and their models to ensure we are providing the best experience for our SnapStream users.

How does SnapStream AI use content from your system?

  • Social post summaries
    • When you post to X, Bluesky or other destinations, SnapStream can pass the transcript of the post to an LLM and ask it for a summary in a few sentences.
  • Moment title generation
    • When you create a clip, SnapStream will pass the transcript of the clip to an LLM and ask it for a summary in a few words.
  • Chapters feature
    • When you make a recording, SnapStream will analyze the captions or transcription while the recording is in progress to generate headings and summaries that describe the content by section.
    • About every 5 minutes, transcription content is sent to an LLM to summarize the content and identify key topics, people, places, and entities. This summary is returned and displayed in the Chapters tab.
  • Snappy feature
    • Snappy is an AI agent capable of referencing videos from your recording library by:
      • Generating embeddings: Embeddings are numerical representations of the text within a transcript. These representations capture the meaning and context of the text, enabling efficient comparison and similarity searches between different recordings.
      • Generating responses: When a user asks Snappy a question, the request is passed to our AI Agent which generates a search query. This query is compared against the embeddings from your library in a vector database, and a list of recordings is generated based on relevance. Using the LLM, we refine and rank these recordings, and finally process the output into an answer which is displayed to the user.

Is my data being used to train the AI model?

No, SnapStream does not use any of your data to train any models.

Can I turn off AI features on my system?

All AI-driven features in SnapStream are optional – if you prefer not to use a particular AI feature, you can simply turn it off. We believe AI should be a helpful tool on your terms, which means you decide if and when to use it.

We hope this policy gives you a clear understanding of how we use AI at SnapStream. Your trust is important to us, and we will continue to make our AI features helpful, secure, and worthy of your trust.
